Ok so this story starts about a year ago when HTC released the HD2 a windows mobile handset that took everyone by storm with its best feature, a huge 4,3 inch screen with capacitive multi-touch, great great great, but everyone said “wish it was an android phone” problem is Peter Chou ( HTC ) and Steve Balmer ( microsoft ) had obviously done the deal with this one and made sure it was a windows phone, to be honest it was a last ditch to keep the ageing mobile platform alive and HTC were only too willing since Microsofts Windows Mobile OS had been their building block for years. So we were all stuck with an amazing phone running an old OS patched to look lovely by HTC !
Moving on a few months HTC obviously knew the handset was a winner but fully aware of androids huge growth decided to release another partnered device just like the HD2, this time it was the EVO-4G for the american market only and with Sprint being the partner of choice on this project the added feature and selling point was that it would be the first 4g device to go public.
By now the general public or at least the smartphone buying portion of the public were going nuts, when are we gonna get the beauty of this 4,3 inch device worldwide and running on the usual 3g networks, and of course android based! Well just about now the underground developer comunity managed to get android working on the previously mentioned HD2 and what a result, its blazing fast and stable like an oak table ! So HTC just couldnt wait any longer, they took the name of their most successful android device ( the desire ) and added the buzz word of choice ( HD ) so what do we end up with from this merger of HD2 and Desire? the Desire HD obviously, and heres a couple of grotty images, soon it will be all over the net and better images will no doubt follow, but for now just enjoy the thought of finally being able to purchase the perfect android device.
