Microsoft and Nokia unite in effort to save their own asses in the mobile arena! Big statement i know but its true, as i think back to 2008 and the day Steve Balmer was questioned about his thoughts on the up-coming Android operating system, his answer as expected was something to the tune of ” Android is just a bunch of ideas, why should we worry when we have over 70 devices in the marketplace ” Oh how wrong he was and how obviously ignorant to the mobile landscape Steves ideas were.
So moving on a little we saw Android destroy any market share Windows Mobile had and we all stood by and watched Microsoft drag their heels for another 2 years before finally launching a new OS in the shape of Windows Phone 7, there was a small interruption from KIN but not even worthy of a description here.
So with Android at great heights and Apple seeing their dream of world dominance Microsoft stand in a completely different landscape to the one they once dominated with the ‘pocket pc’ phone, okay so Windows Phone 7 has some great potential but how to realize it fully we wonder ?
Join forces with Nokia whos mobile phones have recently suffered due to their inability to realize that Symbian os is outdated and despite being the most used mobile os in the world it wont last forever, time for an OS upgrade – step forward Microsoft with the all new Windows Mobile 7 . It all makes sense – you take a once great software giant and a once great phone builder and mix it up a bit and out of the ashes comes a phoenix, or does it? Well if your a twiiter watcher you will have seen one Google engineer (VIC.G) liken the process to taking 2 turkeys and expecting to breed an eagle! Yep that might just sum it all up, its going to be interesting to see how it all pans out.
