Windows Phone 7 is the new boy in the area where mobile operating systems are concerned and now is the right time to make the right impression on the phone buying public, especially with the Nokia experiment so near. But you know its just not gonna work out so well is it? Ahh no! … Samsung owners of the Omnia 7 smartphone running Windows Phone 7 may be a little disturbed to find that the latest update provided by Microsoft actually bricks the device , to brick a device means of course to render it useless as a paperweight, but brick sounds better !!
Samsung have officially announced in a statement regarding this issue that users should hold off until they fix the problem, that’s ok unless you didn’t read the press release and just went ahead with the update!, why exactly this seems to be happening isn’t clear but the current emphasis is on Microsoft being the faulty gene here so its their camp that need to fix the brick as it were !
So why did this never occur with the old Microsoft Windows Mobile pocket pc operating system? Well to be straight with you Microsoft just didn’t ever bother sending over the air updated to their previous operating systems for phones - its only now they are so hopelessly out of the running as a leader in this part of the tech market that they have decided to play catch up, looks like they have a long way to go. My personal thought is how similar this all sounds to the process of updating your desktop pc with a Microsoft operating system service pack, that too has on many occasions caused total loss of use for many users, its just a good old Microsoft trait ..
Samsung Omnia 7 – dont update the thing untill its safe ! if it ever will be !
