Do you remember when netbooks were brand new and the leader way out in front was Asus with their EEE PC? All the other manufacturers followed up with their own versions of the netbook form and though many were better than that first EEE-PC they were never going to hold the title of First of a kind.
Well although in this case Asus arent first at doing this they have acheived a significant result, the new Asus EEE transformer pad is the first Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet to go on sale in the UK and its priced lower than the soon to be released in UK Motorola Xoom, in fact the new Asus EEE pad costs just £380 in its standard form and about £50 more with the dock if you want the ‘netbook’ form factor add on.
I didnt see much publicity from Asus about this significant release and i do wonder how much if any impact it will have, im almost worried for Android in the tablet market place due to the fact Apples iPad 2 has only just come to market and Honeycomb doesnt seem to have turned heads in quite the same way as the original Android Phone OS did back in 2008. So is the tablet game an Apple only thing or will Googles Android for tablets Honeycomb build take hold and earn its place along side Apple?
If you are feeling more like spending some money on an Android and want a bargain Tablet that has a huge amount to offer i recomend the new Asus EEE pad for many reasons, its tech specs are fantastic offering a better than iPad screen with a resolution of 1280×800 and Tegra 2 chipset, also its a bit lighter than iPad although thats probably due to its lack of a solid aluminium housing!
Did i mention that my local Comet have this in stock right now too! thats earlier than release date so if you fancy beating even the pre orders check out your local store.
