Sony seem to be joining the Honeycomb crew it seems  by offering a normal looking tablet ands an odd looking fold up one that looks just like the Kyocera Echo . Its no surprise to see everyone using Android Honeycomb for their tablet offerings as Google made Honeycomb specifically to address the need for a single OS that manufacturers can develop with and use on devices of this kind…

My only thought of any fail here isnt aimed at Sony or any other hardware manufacturer, my only dread is that consumers other than the serious tech heads wont understand the Android concept and thus they wont buy into it.

Okay so you say why wouldnt people buy it, well the tablet market is brand new really, despite a few windows converted laptops of the past the only real tablet and the one that deserves the title ‘First of a Kind’ is the legendary iPad and thats great and it sells but dont let that convince you that a new marketplace has emerged just yet, after all who else but Apple makes a post-walkman personal media player that sells in massive quantities? yeah no-one !  iPod is pure Apple and no-one else can do anything like it – not even the giants like Microsoft can make an equal which is why you probably dont own a Zune.

So now you can see my worry, i love Android , i dearly want to go buy a Xoom or similar Honeycomb device but i do worry that this brand new tablet market is so new that most manufacturers arent even aware of its possibilities one way or the other – super success or super flop! the fact is the world wants iPads but does the world want Tablets ??

Above- the Motorola Xoom..  1st Honeycom tablet …  ever !

Just a year ago the only tablet you could buy was an iPad and that was getting some serious criticism from all angles, now the critics havew been silenced and the world over manufacturers want a slice of this brave new market, but does this market exist?  early days…..
