The HTC HD2 never dies, it becomes a new device every week, this time its the turn of the new Android powered My Touch Slide 4g to shed its rom in order that it might be ported to the legendary HD2. You know the HTC HD2 really should be renamed the ‘Universal’.. only that name already belongs to a HTC device from around 2005 ! Anyway, should you wish to subject your HD2 to another re-rom heres the link to ‘DungPHP’ page at the good old XDA-Developers Forum….
First view is the new unlock screen which kinda wobbles about until you pull into a corner unlocking the device, very much like the Android Honeycomb unlock system but in this case its definitely a Gingerbread based rom.
Remember the 2 new HTC phones with a Facebook button? remember too how those devices had a homescreen clock widget with a Facebook feed instead of the weather? Well you get the very same widget here, i hadnt set it up at the time of the shot above but it is the very same.
The dialer isnt much like some other recent HTC designs – it does kinda remind me of a dialer from another smartphone brand though !!
Speech bubbles for texts! how much like Apple is this? i do like the way its been done here though, its cleaner and more up to date looking than iPhones texting application, i know apple fan boys wont agree on that point!
So there it is – the HD2 running the rom from the new t-mobile my touch slide 4g, its not fully completed yet and dont expect to find it glitch free, but its still fun having the chance to try all the latest phones on your trusty old HD2, hey its not like you can do much harm by trying – even if you think you bricked your hd2 it seems there’s methods of bringing it back to life now ! Thats another story though.
