Rumours are spreading that HTC are planning the release of a smartphone just for girls! What strange perception do they have of the female marketplace that leads them to think the female portion of society needs a separate class of smartphone to make them want to buy one? Well may be its all the pink girly phones of the past that leads HTC to think this will be a good idea after all there have been some utterly memorable pink offerings from other manufacturers in the past.
My thoughts are that most smartphone buying females want the same devices men want, i dont imagine your average lady wishing to answer her phone at work surrounded by her colleagues only to find they are all looking at her shocking pink iPhone or Galaxy! – On the other hand i may be so far wrong and females everywhere are crying out for a more feminine gadget to identify with – i reckon its just how the device is marketed that makes it more manly though and a simple cure would just be to pitch the adds better !
Im in no doubt at all that smartphones are relevant to men and women and there are plenty of smart users buying them, so quite how HTC will pull off the creation of a girly smartphone will be very interesting to see.
