ashes to ashes

Have you ever looked at your nearly new smartphone only to find theres an unsightly lump of dust under  the glass touchscreen? I had exactly this happen to me last week and assumed i would have no problem getting Carphone Warehouse to do something about it. Only it was not going to be that easy at all !!

Okay the pic doesnt do justice to the unsightly nature of my dusty plume but anyway, the full story beging with an entirely different fault caused by myself when i accidently broke the hinge on the screen which meant i had to send my Desire-Z back to the store so they could get a repair centre to fix it, it wasnt a warranty repair as it was my fault and despite the phone only being 2 months old i paid good money to have that problem fixed.

a month and a half later my phone was missing and it seemed Carphone Warehouse had lost my beloved Desire-Z so with the promise of ‘no longer than a month’ from the store they offered me a replacement, i was happy enough with this as i thought i was getting a new replacement and a no stage was i told it was a refurbished phone they were about to give me to replace my now lost Desire-Z…  So home i went with my new second user Desire-z and to be honest i didnt think too much about it untill 2 weeks later when i started to see little bits of dust under the glass! Not happy with this i decided to return it to the store, after all this wasnt the fault my original phone suffered with so why should i accept it in replacement of my totally clean desire-z.

This is where things get silly !  Carphone warehouse tried to claim that i had done something to make the dust appear under the screen, then they said its not a warranty fault, then i got the ‘its not air tight design’ oh yeah and then i was told i could pay to have it fixed, hmmm  you can guess how i felt about that ! ..  So having discussed the situation with the branch manager who was not in the slightest bit helpful ( he actually hid out the back ) i had to leave the store with my dust filled Desire-z, still only 4 months old and still covered by manufacturers 12 month warranty – swapped for a refurb – now faulty Desire-z, and not a thing Carphone Warehouse can do - apparently !

I spend a silly amount of money at Carphone warehouse, i look around and see 3 tablets 12 htc phones and the contracts to go with, and once in all these years i ask for some help and i get turned away, whats most sickening is that the fault lies with a badly refurbished unit that i didnt ask for – it was only given to me as they lost my own Desire-z. I have nothing but bad feeling and disgust now when i think about carphone warehouse, utterly disgusting service.

I await HTCs response to see how they feel about Carphone warehouse sending out badly refurbished phones as replacements when they loose peoples phones in the system, and the deny all responsibility for the poor standards of work carried out , im pretty sure this isnt how HTC would see their own warranty system enforced..
